FAQ

  • What does “auto belay” mean?
    • This is the hydraulic cable safety system that the climber hooks up to while using a rock climbing wall. It allows them to automatically and safely descend to the ground on their own. It also allows the wall crew to concentrate on coaching and encouraging the climber instead of using a rope to manually control their descent.
  • Is this safe?
    • Obviously yes. All of our Adventure Equipment is manufactured and maintained to the highest standards. The “auto belay” cable safety system on the climbing wall is ASTM F-24 compliant. The Fiber Flex poles on the Extreme Air Bungee Jumper are also ASTM F-24 compliant. Inflatables and Obstacle Courses are very safe as long as the safety rules are followed. Most accidents that arise from the use of Inflatables are a difrect result of the renters not following the posted safety rules. It is important to ensure that the units are not overloaded, used in high winds, etc. Our adventure crew is trained to ensure a safe and positive experience. Bottom line – this is VERY safe.
  • When are the set up and take down times?
    • We typically deliver and set up units about 1 hour before your event is scheduled to begin, but depending on different circumstances we can try to accommodate most schedules. Our take down times are based upon the exact ending time of the event. If your event is running longer than our equipment is set up, please be aware that you will have some very sad and upset participants, and we ask that you have a person on hand to communicate the news.
  • Can I pick up the Adventure Equipment myself?
    • Sorry, no. Due to Mid-Atlantic Adventures high safety standards, we are required to set up and take down every rental. Most units are very heavy and we take the delivery time as an opportunity to communicate our safety rules and guidelines for safe operation.
  • What if we do not have the space at our house or townhouse to accommodate the equipment?
    • Mid-Atlantic Adventures has wonderful relationships with the National Parks Service, Fairfax County Park Authority, Arlington County Parks and Rec, and many others. With all of the wonderful parks in the region we can offer several great suggestions to accommodate your event.
  • How does the climbing wall go up?
    • There are 2 very large hydraulic rams that are able to raise the 5,000 lb wall to a fully erect position.
  • What if the space that we would like the have the Adventure Equipment is not close to a power source?
    • For the climbing wall, this is not an issue as it is a self contained unit. For all the other units, generators are available for $75, $115 and $145 which will power one circuit, two circuits and three circuits respectively. Most inflatables require one circuit, but some of our larger units will require up to three circuits.
  • Can I cancel my reservation?
    • We look at working with you as a relationship rather than a business transaction. We will bend over backwards to accommodate you in any way that we can mutually work out just like a relationship. We realize that plans can change and we look to work with you the best we possibly can. Upon the initial booking we require a 50% deposit that holds your equipment – we will not accept other reservations for that date and time, thus we are committed to you! If you cancel the event or our equipment from the event, we will retain the 50% deposit for 365 days and work with you to accommodate an alternate day for your event. If there is no way that can be agreed upon to apply the funds during the 365 days, then deposit funds are retained by Mid-Atlantic Adventures.
  • What if it is windy or rainy on the day of my reservation?
    • All weather related decisions on the part of the customer must be made and communicated at a minimum of 24 hours before the event date. Mid-Atlantic Adventures reserves the right to cancel a rental and provide a full refund of your deposit at any time if we deem it necessary. Again, we look to establish a relationship with you and will work very hard to accommodate all of your circumstances. No refunds will be provided once our adventure equipment has been delivered.
  • What if there is an emergency?
    • In the event of an emergency, have everyone get off the equipment (exit inflatables and come off the climbing wall). Calmly and quickly contact Mid-Atlantic Adventures at 703-248-0031.
  • What are my responsibilities as the renter?
    • Our Rental Agreement requires that the renter or a representative of the renter must be present at the time of delivery. Depending upon the equipment that you have rented we will review the features and safety procedures. Additionally, we will train the volunteer operators that MUST be the only operators of the equipment. All volunteer operators must be present at the time of delivery to receive training and safety procedures from Mid-Atlantic Adventures. Aside from safety items, it is the responsibility of the renter to provide electrical power within 75 feet of the equipment and a level, open area to set up in that is of proper size.
  • How do I reserve a unit?
    • Call or email us at 703 248 0031 or info@mid-atlanticadventures.com and we will be happy to take your reservation. We will then tentatively reserve your unit, mail, fax, or email you a rental agreement for you to sign and return. Once we have received your signed rental agreement and deposit, we will email you to confirm that we have received everything.
  • How much of a deposit is required to hold a reservation?
    • A deposit equal to 50% of the total charge is required for us to hold the reservation for you.
  • How can I pay?
    • We accept cash, check, or credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and Amex). The balance of the payment is due upon delivery.
